Karlien was born in Belgium and raised internationally before she settled in the Netherlands. Karlien holds a Masters in Health and Clinical Psychology from Leiden University. Prior to that she completed a Masters in International Development Studies from Utrecht University. Before returning to a more client-facing role, she gained experience in various international organisations and most recently as POH-GGZ at a General Practitioner. At Grip Psychologen Karlien treats a variety of psychological disturbances ranging from (social) anxiety disorders, mood disorders, stress or trauma related disorders amongst others. Karlien is empathetic and energetic and makes use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR. She is a cognitive behavioural therapist in training and a member of the Dutch Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (VGCT®).
