Trauma treatment (NET, BEPP and BEPP-TR)
Trauma treatment may also be based on other scientifically proven methods besides EMDR. At Grip Psychologists we are able to treat multiple trauma, PTSD, and traumatic grief with the following methods:
NET (Narrative Exposure Therapy)
In this type of trauma treatment, a lifeline will be drawn, with special attention for all the important events in your life, including the good events (flowers will be laid down for these types of events) as well as the traumatic events (instead of flowers, stones will be placed). All the important experiences will be discussed, whereby the trauma’s will be explicitely reviewed through exposure. A report is made after each session, which will be bound into one document at the end of the treatment. NET is proven to be an effective treatment for multiple trauma.
BEPP (Brief Eclectic Psychotherapy for PTSD)
This is a combination of techniques focused on the processing of traumatic experiences. During the sessions, psychoeducation, imaginative exposure, writing exercises, memorabilia (the use of objects which are reminders of the traumatic experiences), and the giving of meaning (focus on the impact of the event on someone’s life) will be used, as well as a farewell ritual to complete the treatment. BEPP is proven to be an effective treatment for PTSD.
BEPP-TR (BEPP Traumatic Grief)
This type of therapy is used when someone has lost someone close to them in a traumatic way. In that case, grief will be accompanied by symptoms of PTSD, as well as possible depressive symptoms. This form of treatment uses the same principles as BEPP, however, the protocol is altered to feelings of grief and sadness.
