Sleeping problems and disorders

Are you having trouble sleeping? You are not alone, as one third of the Dutch population sleeps poorly. If sleeping problems persist for a longer period of time, one will often feel tired and sleepy during the day. Consequences may be irritability or difficulty functioning properly at work.

The causes

Stress and unhealthy habits are the most common causes for sleeping problems. Stress keeps your body in an alert state, while relaxation is needed to be able to sleep. In addition, a disturbed circadian rhythm or living habits such as drinking coffee late at night can also influence your sleeping pattern negatively. In some cases sleeping problems will occur after experiencing a traumatic event, which can lead to having nightmares.

Treatment

Treatment consists of cognitive behavioural therapy. During the intake session, you and your therapist will investigate what the causes of your sleeping problems are and draw up a treatment plan. Reach out for help now, it would be a shame if your sleeping problems deteriorate, when in most cases just a few sessions will get you back to a good night's sleep.

Blended Care

In case of sleeping problems, we offer partial online treatment, in collaboration with the online programs (e-health) of Therapieland. You can find more information on the Blended Care page.

Reimbursement

Treatment for negative self-image is not covered by health insurance. Unless you are diagnosed with another DSM-5 disorder, you will have to pay for the costs yourself. Ask our office management about the conditions.
